Diuretics-AKA the love of my life

Diuretics work to force excess fluid out of the body through urination. There are several classes.

Thiazides-end in the word -thiazide such as hydrochlorothiazide. They work on the distal convoluted tubule in the nephron. These are weaker diuretics for kidney disease

Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors-work on the proximal convoluted tubule. Includes acetazolamide (diamox). These are very weak.

Osmotic diuretics-such as mannitol, work in the glomerulus. These are filterable substances so they are urinated out with excess fluid

Loop diuretics-such as demedex, bumex, and lasix. They work in the ascending loop. Most of them end in -mide or -ex if generic
